So UPS apparently has a fun side Twitter for dogs their drivers encounter.

Not just dogs either, goats get into it

but mostly dogs

if you ever wonder why sometimes they stop for so long

It’s a fun one and worth a look

Break the stereotype that dogs and mailmen can’t get along!

The reason dogs and mailcarriers are depicted as not getting along is because the mailcarrier is an unknown person entering the dog’s territory on a frequent (daily) basis and leave their scent/scent of the mail/truck. If dog never meets mailcarrier, its a potential threat and dog thinks they must defend their turf and family. Dog is just doing job!

If the mailcarrier meets the dog and establishes “hey I’m a friend!” They’re no longer an intruder but a welcome frequent guest. My friend says his ups office now ISSUES boxes of treats for the trucks and instructs drivers how to approach dogs, ask owners if its ok to pet/give a treat, and encourages them to snap a photo.

So yay to ups for pushing healthy dog-human interactions!
