eleanor and tahani being assigned as soulmates is very much the kind of Good Shit™ that I want to see but has anyone considered that quite possibly jason and chidi were soulmates during that same cycle and that it was both the closest jason got to actual, real torture (listening to some rando talk for hours about something he “kant” do) and the closest chidi got to consistent joy – sure, jianyu doesn’t talk and sometimes he leaves with no explanation just when the conversation is getting interesting, but he nodded understandingly while chidi mused about the application of other philosophical thought to buddhist ideals (jason was thinking about the unsmoked weed sitting in his dresser cabinet and hoping deeply that pillboi found it before the cops. the thought brought tears to his eyes)
Pray for our mans Chidi and Jason. Nothing’s wrong with them, it’s just that one’s a total dumbass and the other’s an anxiety-ridden mess. We still love them tho!
I struggled early on with kind of finding that balance between human and robot. You don’t want to play a ‘beep boop bop’ robot, obviously. But she can’t have too much emotion and judgment. She is this kind of unflappable, happy, positive thing. And the beginning was weirdly difficult. I talked with Mike Schur about it a lot, the show’s creator, and we found a happy medium, a balance, together. Then it started to feel so natural. Now, I feel like I know her so well: She is me, I am her.
